I haven't written much because of this. To write or to clean? That is the question.
I'm busy at work, I'm busy at home, I want to start a new novel. I want to finish the one I started. I may work on two simultaneously. I'm writing a new article for the February issue of skirt! Houston Magazine.
I'm having a boy party for my son next week at Chuck E Cheese. Fun! I need to buy the decorations, balloons, and the plates, etc.. There aren't enough hours in the day!
And then on to the GOOD NEWS!!! We're going to Vegas baby! I've never been as an adult. I went when I was a teenager en route to the Grand Canyon and to see Hoover Dam. I have an advertising conference that will be held there this Spring, so we're going to go. It will be our annual trip together without the kids. I'm getting excited! We're staying at Caesar's Palace. How classic!
Then we need to figure out what we're going to do with the kids this summer!
Come on in and read the reflections of a middle-aged Hispanic American writer & working-mom. I'm passionate about writing, reading, Little Libraries in Laundromats, the historic McDaniel Street Cemetery & art (especially collaging) & corporate philanthropy. I hope to inspire people with my words, especially women, to show them that we all have challenges & struggles, in different ways. MIA
I've been MIA. I can not believe that my last blog entry was January 5 and that tomorrow it's January 19! JANUARY NINETEEN!! We are more than halfway done with January.
I have nothing good to report. My life is just rushing past me. My son's Vanguard test is this coming Saturday. I've been very busy all week. I passed through a two day stomach virus and had a horrible day. It was a week!
I'm starting on another week tomorrow. We are trying to close a huge client and get back another huge client, so it's going to be kind of a stressful week. I'm not looking forward to it and I am all at the same time. Sometimes I thrive on the stress.

The Year in Review- Blog Entries
Instead of giving you my top blogs of the year or my favorite blog entries of the year I am going to review the top searches that took people to my blog and a link to the blog entry they ended up at. Interesting.
The top winner ever time is 7th Grade Science Project Ideas which I wrote because everyone always searching for this topic always ended up at this other blog entry from 2005, 7th Grade Science Project, which I think is a very sad story.
Next comes Favorite Nike Quotes. You'd be surprised how many people all over the world search for this topic and end up at my blog.
Third is an entry about Super Cool Stationary. Apparently a lot of people have a need for this.
And YES, people DO search for the topic "Man Breasts" and end up at my wonderful entry, Can You See My Man Breasts Through This Shirt?
And finally, this one is pretty cool. People end up at my blog when they do a search for skirt! Magazine and they end up at my very first blog entry ever about skirt! And to think that I write for them now!
So there you have it! The top five blog searches that have brought unsuspecting souls into my lair.

Back to the Trochemoche
I have no idea if I've spelled that right, but that's what my mother always said. "Troche Moche" is kind of like the grind. Like saying, "Back to the grind," our however that saying goes in English.
OK. I just looked it up and someone says it means, "helter skelter." I don't know where that came from but I like my definition better. So you pick the one you like best.
Either way I'm back at work. This is my thought for the day. "Perhaps our natural gifts elude us because they are so obvious." - Sue Bender.
I'm going to work on not taking my natural gifts for granted.
I was really excited to receive a skirt! alert from the skirt! Houston editor yesterday. She highlighted my skirt! story on Gwendolyn in her e-mail that goes out to tons of people. Check it out if you haven't already. Link is below.

New Year & Goals
It's a new year and one of my goals is to write more and to try to get published more. I was very proud to get my first feature story on Gwendolyn Zepeda published on skirt! Houston this week. I'm also still blogging on the national and local page pretty frequently.
I am going to write more and submit more in 2009. That is my writing goal, among many others. Goals always make me feel like I'm moving forward. That's what keeps me motivated. Lists of goals and lists in general. I have a daily "To Do" list and of course a yearly one too.
In addition to that, the beginning of a year also means another birthday for me in February. THE BIG 39 this time. I don't celebrate birthdays however it's like the beginning of a new year. I take stock of my life at that time and I may even revise the goals I made at the beginning of the year.
Yesterday, on the anniversary of my mom's death, but not because it was her anniversary, I made turkey. Ironically the last time and only time I ever made a turkey was right before she passed away. I made it because she didn't feel well enough to do it herself any more.
I didn't think about her when we were having the turkey, but now that I thought about it it's really funny that I made turkey on the anniversary of her death.
My mom raised me with a very healthy belief in death, so I think that's why I can see the irony and humor in the coincidence. I know that she's fine and resting now. I also believe that I will see her again one day and that makes it all okay.
On another note, check out the story by my cousin Oscar Casares in the December issue of Texas Monthly.
