New skirt! Houston for March

Hey there! Semi-busy weekend. Kids had a kid party yesterday. I actually took a nap today. Something I never do.

March is here and so is most likely the last cold front of the winter. Spring will be here soon!

I have a new story publishing in the March issue of skirt! Houston. Check it out. It's a story about local artist, Lizbeth Ortiz.

Random Thoughts

I haven't written much because of this. To write or to clean? That is the question.

I'm busy at work, I'm busy at home, I want to start a new novel. I want to finish the one I started. I may work on two simultaneously. I'm writing a new article for the February issue of skirt! Houston Magazine.

I'm having a boy party for my son next week at Chuck E Cheese. Fun! I need to buy the decorations, balloons, and the plates, etc.. There aren't enough hours in the day!

And then on to the GOOD NEWS!!! We're going to Vegas baby! I've never been as an adult. I went when I was a teenager en route to the Grand Canyon and to see Hoover Dam. I have an advertising conference that will be held there this Spring, so we're going to go. It will be our annual trip together without the kids. I'm getting excited! We're staying at Caesar's Palace. How classic!

Then we need to figure out what we're going to do with the kids this summer!

Back to the Trochemoche

I have no idea if I've spelled that right, but that's what my mother always said. "Troche Moche" is kind of like the grind. Like saying, "Back to the grind," our however that saying goes in English.

OK. I just looked it up and someone says it means, "helter skelter." I don't know where that came from but I like my definition better. So you pick the one you like best.

Either way I'm back at work. This is my thought for the day. "Perhaps our natural gifts elude us because they are so obvious." - Sue Bender.

I'm going to work on not taking my natural gifts for granted.

I was really excited to receive a skirt! alert from the skirt! Houston editor yesterday. She highlighted my skirt! story on Gwendolyn in her e-mail that goes out to tons of people. Check it out if you haven't already. Link is below.

Three More Days Until Vacation

But who's counting? Me? Nah! Of course it's really only one more full day of work until vacation. Woo Hoo! I am so out of here. I can hardly wait! I hadn't gotten so excited because I don't think I had really thought about it much. But now as the days get closer I'm making plans and looking forward to not having to wake up early for work for a whole week.

The other thing I am starting now, before the crazy mad rush to the gym by half the city, is working out again. I have so fallen off the wagon it's not even funny. So today is my first day back and I am going to pummel this body into shape! I've lost 45 lbs but I sure need to do some reshaping and firming up. Watch out!

I'm getting excited about doing a few fun activities with the kids. I wrote about some of them on skirt!

Speaking of skirt! I will hopefully have something publishing on the local Houston page very soon! And I will definitely have a give-away on there of a great new book. Stay tuned!

skirt! Blog

I have some sad news. My skirt! blog days may be numbered. A couple of weeks ago The Houston Chronicle announced that they will no longer publish the Houston edition of skirt! It was a partnership with that publisher. The Chronicle announced that the April edition will be the last one, so more than likely the Houston page will only be up this month. These are my last entries and I am really trying to make them count.

As of now I don't know if skirt! will continue to publish the magazine on their own. It's possible. If they do, then my blog will probably stay where it is. If not, then I want to ask them if I can still blog off of their national page. We will see. I have really enjoyed that platform and I love the magazine, so I hope something works out.

What can you do to help? you may ask. Visit my blog on skirt! often and comment! Maybe if they see a lot of traffic to my site they will be more inclined to let me continue blogging there. :-)
