Miranda (age 5) was accepted into the Vanguard Program (Gifted & Talented) here in HISD! We received the letter of acceptance today. But best of all she was accepted into our first choice school! I am so excited and happy for her! I told her about it and it didn't mean that much to her but then I reminded her of the test that she took at the end of January.
She asked me, "So I answered it right?!" all excited.
"Yes I told her, you answered everything right!"
Now we have to get ready for school and for the orientation, making sure she's up to date with all her shots, etc. Goodness! I feel like I'm going to school for the first time. I'm so happy for her.
You know that as a parent you know that your child is the smartest child in the world, but when someone else validates it, it feels great. I've always thought that she's very good at analytical problems when I've worked with her on her workbooks but this test confirmed it. She scored really high on that part. Actually higher than her verbal. And those of you who know her verbal ability know what that means. She actually scored just above average on the verbal and reading and not so great on the math.
I've been bad about the math. I'm not very math inclined myself so I haven't spent that much time on the math with her. This is something I promise to work harder on with her from now on.
OK my friends and readers. I'm off to shower and get ready for bed.
